A Cambridge business owner reported a scam. The reporting party was contacted
by a telephone caller claiming to be a representative for the electric
company and stating that the reporting party’s electricity was about to be
shut off. The suspect stated that the only way to prevent this happening was
to send him several thousand dollars in cash. The reporting party called the
police instead of calling the suspect back to arrange the payment. No monetary
losses were incurred.

Officers responded to the intersection of Mount Auburn Street and University
Road for a report of a pedestrian struck in a crosswalk. The driver of the
vehicle, who stated that he hadn’t seen the pedestrian until he struck her,
was issued a citation for Failure to Yield for a Pedestrian in the Crosswalk.
The pedestrian was transported to the hospital via ambulance for non-life-threatening
injuries.

A resident of Jamaica Plain reported that her jacket and wallet were stolen
from a Callender Street address on October 27. The reporting party’s house
keys and credit and debit cards were in the wallet that was stolen. An
unknown suspect attempted to use the stolen credit card at a business in
Boston the next day, but the transaction was declined. The reporting party
has since cancelled all of her credit and debit cards.
