Jake Silveira, 26, 263 Harvard Street in Cambridge, was placed under arrest on Church Street for Attempt to Commit Crime (Larceny of Motor Scooter) and Wanton Destruction of Property Over $1200. Silveira was observed tampering with a motor scooter on the street. The owner of the scooter arrived while officers were on scene and confirmed that Silveira had caused significant damage to the scooter.

Officers responded to a White Street business for a report of an unknown suspect shoplifting and defecating in the store. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the incident had occurred at approximately 7:00 a.m. and that the suspect has done this multiple times. All employees of the store were advised to contact police as soon as they see this individual on the premises.

A resident of Somerville reported her purse and wallet stolen from a Harvard Square restaurant on the night of November 2. The wallet contained identification, a credit card, cash, a Charlie Card, and keys. The reporting party’s credit card was used at a store nearby around the time of the theft.

Officers responded to Massachusetts Avenue at Plympton Street for a report of a crash with no injuries. The victim was operating a motorcycle when a motor vehicle improperly merged into traffic, causing the victim to swerve to avoid the vehicle and drop his motorcycle. The victim denied any personal injuries and stated that he had arranged for his motorcycle to be towed due to its inoperable condition.

Officers documented a larceny of a bicycle that took place on Massachusetts Avenue. The reporting party’s red Fuji mountain bicycle was stolen between approximately 4:00 p.m. on November 2 and 2:30 p.m. on November 3. The bicycle had been locked to the reporting party’s front stairs with a cable lock, which was cut when the bicycle was stolen.

A Cambridge business owner reported a scam. The reporting party was contacted by a telephone caller claiming to be a representative for the electric company and stating that the reporting party’s electricity was about to be shut off. The suspect stated that the only way to prevent this happening was to send him several thousand dollars in cash. The reporting party called the police instead of calling the suspect back to arrange the payment. No monetary losses were incurred.

Officers responded to the intersection of Mount Auburn Street and University Road for a report of a pedestrian struck in a crosswalk. The driver of the vehicle, who stated that he hadn’t seen the pedestrian until he struck her, was issued a citation for Failure to Yield for a Pedestrian in the Crosswalk. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital via ambulance for non-life-threatening injuries.

A resident of Jamaica Plain reported that her jacket and wallet were stolen from a Callender Street address on October 27. The reporting party’s house keys and credit and debit cards were in the wallet that was stolen. An unknown suspect attempted to use the stolen credit card at a business in Boston the next day, but the transaction was declined. The reporting party has since cancelled all of her credit and debit cards.
