As another way to support individuals who may be homeless this winter, we are once again proud to be participating in the 2019 Warm Hearts for Warm Feet sock drive along with the Offices of Mayor McGovern, City Council, City Manager, CASPAR and Bay Cove Human Services. This year, the goal is to collect over 1,000 pairs of new wool socks in the next two weeks. Socks will be distributed to clients of CASPAR (Cambridge And Somerville Program for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Rehabilitation), which operates the Emergency Services Center & Shelter at 240 Albany Street, along with a number of other programs and services that support our homeless neighbors: https://www.baycovehumanservices.org/caspar/.

The Cambridge Police Station at 125 6th Street is one of the drop off locations along with Cambridge City Hall. We will be taking donations in a large bin in our lobby now through February 14th or we can come pick up socks from you if you collect them at your place of business. We will then turn in all of the socks we’ve collected on Valentine’s Day, putting CASPAR in a better position to care for people’s well being.

CASPAR is asking for new socks that are at least 70% wool, because other sock types could potentially freeze if/when they get wet. They have put together an Amazon wish list to help guide folks with obtaining the correct sock type: https://amzn.to/2BaD8r4. Also, Hilton's Tent City in Central Square is offering 20% off wool socks for the drive again this year. Any support from the community would be appreciated.
