Garrick P. Murphy, 37, of 51 Reservoir Street, was placed under arrest for operating under the influence of liquor and other traffic violations. He was observed operating a motor vehicle on a public way at a speed greater than reasonable and in violation of the citywide speed limit of 25 M.P.H. Once stopped, he was observed showing signs of impairment and was unable to produce a driver’s license or a motor vehicle registration during the interaction.

Cambridge Police responded to the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Rindge Avenue for a report of a motor vehicle crash into a building. A witness told officers the motor vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed from Massachusetts Avenue onto Rindge Avenue, causing it to lose control and crash over a sidewalk, through a fence and into another parked motor vehicle. After an investigation, the operator will be summonsed to Cambridge District Court for one count of reckless operation of a motor vehicle.
