At approximately 12:20 a.m., Cambridge Police while on patrol in the area of Harvard Square observed a male actively assaulting another male party. When police intervened a knife in the possession of the suspect was discovered. The man was identified as Obed Jean, 29, 111 Putnam Street in Everett and was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault and Battery, and Carrying of a Dangerous Weapon.

Cambridge Police responded to the area of Massachusetts Avenue for a report of a motor vehicle crash. After a brief investigation on scene, it was determined that one of the drivers involved was not licensed to operate motor vehicles in the Commonwealth. As a result, an Everett resident will be summonsed to court for Unlicensed operation of Motor Vehicle.

At approximately 8:31 p.m., a Somerville resident was summonsed for Insurance Operating Motor Vehicle Without. The resident also received Massachusetts Uniform Citation for Improper Turn and License Not In Possession. She was observed on Massachusetts Avenue making an improper left turn onto Prospect Street. Subsequent to conducting a motor vehicle stop it was determined by Officers on location that she was driving with revoked insurance and she did not have her driver’s license in her possession.

At approximately 8:40 p.m., Cambridge Police arrested Shane Whitsey, 48, 520 Main Street in Malden for shoplifting by asportation. Whitsey was apprehended by lost prevention at a local establishment with 34 items for a value of $706.34, as he concealed the items in a back pack tried to exit the store without paying. Approximately a half an hour earlier Whitsey was apprehended by another security guard at a nearby liquor store trying to flee with $126.97 worth of alcohol without paying. The liquor store only trespassed Whitsey and is not pursuing charges.
