MT AUBURN ST
At approximately 1:17 a.m., Cambridge Police were dispatched to Mount Auburn Street for a report of a motor vehicle crash with injury. An individual who witnessed the crash pulled the operator out of a vehicle after the collision. The operator of the vehicle admitted to consuming alcohol prior to the crash. He was injured in the crash and was transferred to the hospital for medical treatment. A burnt marijuana cigarette and an open container of alcohol were found in the vehicle during an inventory search. As a result of this crash, the operator, a Cambridge resident, was issued an application for criminal complaint for (1) Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor, (2) Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs, (3) Negligent operation of a motor vehicle, (4) Drink alcohol from open container in motor vehicle, and (5) municipal ordinance violation.

A Cambridge resident reported that on 9/20/2019 between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., while traveling on Massachusetts Avenue on a bicycle, the bicyclist flew over the handle bars of the bike and sustained a left hand injury. The cyclist stated that a motor vehicle may have clipped the rear wheel of his bike, but he is unsure if that is the case.

In the morning, Cambridge Police responded to a Massachusetts Avenue eatery to investigate a report of an assault in progress. Upon arrival, the two parties were already split up and interviewed. It was determined that a simple Assault and Battery occurred.

At approximately 9:31 a.m., the Cambridge Police Explosive Ordnance Unit responded to Spring Street for a suspicious substance on a front porch of a residence. Cambridge Fire HAZ MAT responded and tested the substance and came back as baking soda.

Cambridge Police officers responded to the area of Massachusetts Avenue on a report of a male who had kicked a large window on a business causing it to break. The description of the male matched a homeless male police had dealt with earlier in Central Square. A witness took a picture of the male walking away after they observed him "donkey" style kick the window causing it to break. Police observed the photo taken and confirmed the male was the same individual who was in Central Sq. earlier. A short time later the male, Edward Fitch, 31, homeless, was located by police and placed in custody for Malicious Destruction of Property Under $250.

BENNETT ST
At approximately 4:57 p.m., a New Hampshire resident was summoned for wanton destruction over $1200 as result to hotel couch and rugs vomited on, defrauding an innkeeper as she pretended to be a guest on hotel property without permission and larceny from a building as items such as bath robes were taken from the property. Cambridge Police responded to the hotel located on Bennett Street for a report of malicious destruction. After speaking with the hotel staff, it was discovered through video surveillance and positive government identification found on hotel property that the suspect caused significant damage to one of the hotel’s room.

At approximately 6:00 p.m., Nelson Gelardi, 62, 237 Franklin Street in Cambridge, was arrested at Carl Barron Plaza. Detectives observed Gelardi at this location and were aware that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Cambridge District Court for Breaking and Entering to a Building in the Nighttime. This warrant was confirmed and Gelardi was placed under arrest.

At approximately 7:10 p.m., a motorist was traveling on Brattle Street by Brattle Square when a pedestrian ran up and smashed his side view mirror and windshield with a skateboarder's helmet (color matte gray). The suspect was calling him to get out of the car and fight. The Suspect ran down JFK Street towards the river.

Cambridge Police responded to River Street and Memorial Drive in regards to a motor vehicle crash. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the registration of one of the vehicles involved in the crash was revoked for insurance purposes. A Revere resident was summonsed to court for Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Revoked Registration and Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
