A Cambridge resident reports that she received through priority mail a package containing a check for $2495.00 with instruction to deposit the check into her checking account. The woman was then instructed to buy E-Bay gift cards totaling $2000.00 and then upload them to an e-mail address that was provided. The check provided was a fake check.

ALEWIFE BROOK PKWY
Units responded to Alewife Brook Parkway for a report of a Larceny in Progress at approximately 11:15 p.m. The victim stated that he went outside of his workplace and observed a suspect riding away on his bicycle. The area was searched and a suspect matching the description was stopped and questioned. The suspect admitted that he was involved with the larceny of the bicycle, but was currently not in possession of it. The suspect stated that he would attempt to locate the bicycle and make notification to the police if he located it. At the time of writing this report, the suspect did in fact make notification that he was in possession of the bicycle and left the bicycle at the location where we stopped him. The bicycle was subsequently recovered and returned to the owner.
