SOMERVILLE AVE
Fernando Martinez, 41, homeless, was arrested for shoplifting by concealment after a Loss Prevention Officer witnessed Martinez conceal merchandise inside a blue duffel bag that he was carrying. A total of $320.81 of merchandise was recovered and returned to the merchant. Martinez had two warrants for Breaking and Entering Night Time for a Felony and Shoplifting by Asportation. Martinez was placed under arrest as a result of his actions, shoplifting and for the two warrants.

A Providence, RI resident reports that he was rear-end while traveling southbound on Cambridge Street by a red passenger car and that when they both pulled over the suspect operator drove away without exchanging insurance information. No injuries were reported.

Cambridge Police were conducting traffic enforcement at Massachusetts Avenue and Prospect Street in Central Square. An officer observed a gray Nissan Murano travel straight from a clearly marked "right turn only" lane. Officers stopped the motor vehicle and discovered that its registration was revoked due to insurance purposes and that it had a failed its inspection sticker. The owner/operator of the vehicle is being summonsed to court for Marked Lanes Violation, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Registration Revoked, Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Failed Inspection Sticker.

Cambridge Police conducted a motor vehicle stop after observing a civil motor vehicle infraction at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Prospect Street. As a result of the traffic stop, a Somerville resident will be summonsed to Cambridge District Court for a single count of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and taking an improper turn.

A Walden Street resident reported the theft of his bicycle -- a 2018 Specialized Hot Rock – after it was taken from outside Green Street between 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. last evening. The bike was lime green with black trim and lettering.

MASSACHUSETTS AVE
Cambridge Police responded to a department store located on Massachusetts Avenue for a report of a shoplifting in progress. The loss prevention officer observed a male suspect conceal a JBL speaker in his jacket and walk out of the store. The suspect fled down Massachusetts Avenue towards the Central Square T Station. Officers conducted a search of the T station and found a party matching the exact description given by loss prevention, holding the stolen merchandise. Joseph Paulo Oliveira, 24, 112 South Hampton Street in Boston, was placed under arrest and is being charged with Shoplifting by Asportation. Oliveira also had two warrants out of Boston Municipal District Court for Unarmed Burglary, Breaking and Entering Building Daytime for a Felony and Receiving Stolen Property.
