Cambridge Police were dispatched to a department store in Central Square for a past larceny. Security at the store reported a theft on 2/22/20. A suspect was recorded on video exiting a business with over $400 in computer equipment.

A Somerville resident was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle without a driver's license after failing to make a safe lane change cutting off a bicyclist.

A Harvey Street resident reports that she was rear-ended by an unknown SUV while she was stopped for the traffic signal at the intersection of Columbia Street and Hampshire Street. The victim states that the suspect operator never pulled over to exchange insurance information and fled the area down Hampshire Street. No injuries were reported.

Jorge Montana, 66, 41 Kinnaird Street in Cambridge, was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License, Cell Phone Violation and Blocking the Bicycle Lane. He was observed typing on his cell phone, then trying to pull over in a bike lane to pick up a passenger. After being pulled over, a check of his license came back with a Suspended Status.

Cambridge Police observed a male suspect drinking a beer on a bench on Massachusetts Avenue in Central Square. The suspect has been given numerous warnings in the past regarding drinking alcohol in public. The resident of Cambridge was summonsed to court for Drinking in Public.

Joseph Bowman, 34, 72 Downer Avenue in Dorchester, was arrested for Shoplifting at a Massachusetts Avenue department store after Loss Prevention employees observed Bowman attempt to walk out of the store without paying for a HP Chromebook. Loss Prevention detained Bowman as he was exiting the store and escorted him to a back room to wait until police arrived.

Thomas Janes, 64, 31 Dean Street in Milton, was arrested for a warrant out of Cambridge District Court for Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Registration and an Unregistered Motor Vehicle as a result of a traffic stop.

ESSEX ST
Cambridge Police Officers, while on routine patrol, initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Massachusetts Ave and Essex Street after it was determined that a vehicle was showing a registration status of "revoked for insurance." After contacting the driver, it was clear that he was not the owner of the vehicle and had no knowledge of the current registration status. As a result of the motor vehicle stop, the operator was issued a Criminal Application for an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Operating a Motor Vehicle after Registration Revocation.

MASSACHUSETTS AVE
Cambridge Police initiated a motor vehicle stop after observing a vehicle make an illegal left turn at the intersection of Massachusetts Ave and Prospect Street. Upon further investigation it was determined that the operator was operating a motor vehicle without a license on a public way. The driver was issued a Massachusetts Uniform Citation and will be summonsed for violation of Operating Without a License and Left Turn Where Prohibited.

SOMERVILLE AVE
Cambridge Police responded to a department store at Somerville Ave for a shoplifting. The suspect left the store with items concealed on her person, passing all points of sale without rendering payment, and ran towards the train station. After a search of the area, officers stopped a female matching the description provided by Loss Prevention. Shayla Wilson, 19, 16 Wells Street in Gloucester, was placed under arrest for shoplifting by concealing merchandise after officers discovered stolen merchandise in her fleece.
