Cambridge Police responded to a Massachusetts Avenue building on a report of a breaking and entering in-progress after two males were observed entering a basement window. Responding Officers detained two individuals attempting to flee from inside the building, who were found to be in possession of numerous stolen items and burglarious instruments.

A Cambridge Park Drive resident reported the theft of a package on January 25, 2021 at approximately 3:15 p.m. A suspect or suspects entered a secure storage area of her building and stole a package containing a pair of Nike sneakers. The theft occurred sometime around 2 a.m. There are multiple victims of bike and package thefts from this incident.

A Putnam Avenue resident reported the theft of a duffel bag on January 25, 2021 at approximately 4 p.m. The bag had been stolen off of the front porch of the victim's residence sometime after 8 p.m. on January 22, 2021. The bag contained over $5,700 worth of electronics, clothing and jewelry.

A Boston resident reported malicious destruction to his motor vehicle on January 25, 2021 at approximately 4:45 p.m. A suspect had stomped on the roof of his 2019 Ford Mustang while it was parked on Education Street between 11:20 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. There was significant damage to the roof as a result.

SHOPLIFTING BY ASPORTATION C266 S30A

MASSACHUSETTS AVE
Cambridge Police arrested Abdisamad Abubakar, 47, 80 Homes Avenue in Boston, for Shoplifting by Asportation, Possession - Class A Substance, and Possession - Class E Substance. Abubakar was observed by a Store Manager concealing multiple products in his backpack and jacket. Abubakar was stopped a short distance from the retail store, where he was identified by the Store Manager as the suspect. Shortly thereafter, Abubakar admitted to shoplifting multiple products from the establishment with the intent to deprive. Upon searching Abubakar, the following substances were located on his person: Gabapentin, Heroin, and Xanax (Alprazolam), which he identified to Officers. Subsequently, Abubakar was placed under arrest and transported to the Cambridge Police Station, where he was booked in the usual manner.

A Cambridge Park Drive resident reported the theft of a bicycle on January 25, 2021 at approximately 7 p.m. His black road bike was taken from a secure storage area of his building sometime around 2 a.m. today. He did not recall the make or model, but estimated the value at $350.

CAMBRIDGE ST
Cambridge Police arrested Richard Randall, 54, 70 Thorndike Street in Cambridge. Randall was positively identified by a named witness who had observed him entering a closed photography studio and absconding with two cameras/lenses valued at approximately $5,628. Randall was stopped by police a short distance from the photography studio and had one camera hanging around his neck when first observed. A second camera was secreted in a shopping cart that he was standing next to. Additionally, Randall admitted to officers on scene that he entered the business and took the cameras. As a result, Randall is being charged with B&E Nighttime for Felony and Larceny from Building.

Cambridge Police responded to Mass. Ave. for a 3rd party 911 call. After an investigation, it was discovered that a person was refusing to leave a hotel room and needed to be removed.
