After an investigation, Anthony Fortes, 46, 11 Burnside Street in Salem, Massachusetts, was placed under arrest and charged with Operating Under the Influence (Liquor).

The Cambridge Police, along with Cambridge Fire and Pro Ems, responded to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Plympton and Mt. Auburn St. late last night at approximately 11:48 p.m. Upon arrival, Officers located an operator of a motor vehicle that had driven into the outer wall of a building at Plympton Street. The crash did not cause damage to the building, but did result in damage to a parking sign and parking meter. The driver reported losing control of their vehicle due to the heavy rain. They were summonsed for Operating a Motor Vehicle with Revoked Insurance and an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.

Cambridge Police responded to the intersection of Cambridge Street and Webster Avenue for a report of a motor vehicle crash. While on scene, officers learned that an operator of one of the involved vehicles fled after the crash. The operator returned to the scene approximately 40 minutes later and was identified. He stated that he was traveling approximately 55-60 miles per hour westbound on Cambridge Street, when he struck a vehicle after failing to yield at the red light at the intersection of Cambridge Street and Webster Avenue. He is being summonsed to Cambridge District Court and will be charged with Leaving the Scene after Property Damage, Failure to Stop at a Red Light and Speeding.

Cambridge Police responded to the area of Green Street for a report of an armed robbery. A
victim reported being approached by two suspects, who grabbed onto the victim’s yellow Cannondale bicycle and pushed the victim against a wall at a Green Street building. When the victim resisted, one of the suspects displayed what was believed to be a black handgun. The suspects then took the bicycle, left Green Street and headed towards Franklin Street.

Scott Pelkey, 38, 80 Richmond Street in Boston, was arrested for Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (glass cup) and a warrant out of Cambridge District Court (Assault with a Dangerous Weapon) after he started a fight with a woman in Central Square. During the fight, Pelkey struck the victim in her face with a glass cup, causing the cup to break, which then cut the right side of the victim’s face.

Officers responded to the intersection of Columbia Street and Cambridge Street for an assault in progress. Upon arrival, Officers learned the reporting person was walking with his family and attempted to cross Cambridge Street when they were almost struck by a motor vehicle in the crosswalk. The reporting person slapped the motor vehicle that almost struck him and his family causing the motor vehicle to stop in the middle of the street where the operator exited the motor vehicle, assaulted the reporting person, got back in his motor vehicle and then drove off.
