The reporting party stated that a resident of the building, who in fact is not a resident of that building, was being physically attacked outside by three males. On arrival, police were told that the three suspects had fled the area in the direction of Somerville down Prospect Street, but that there possibly people still inside of the first-floor apartment, which was supposed to be vacant. Police conducted a protective sweep of the residence and located Steffen Russell, 52, homeless out of Cambridge, inside of a bedroom in the apartment. It was discovered that a rear door to the apartment had been damaged and that a rear window had been forced open. Speaking with the property owner, it was confirmed that Russell had no right of access to this residence. As a result, Russell was placed under arrest for Breaking and Entering Daytime. While being detained, Russell began stating that he had been paying rent to something thought to be associated with the property management company. That suspect – a resident of Cambridge - had fled the area initially but later returned to the scene. It should be noted that they had no lawful right of access to that apartment. As a result, the suspect was summoned for Larceny Under $1200 by False Pretense for accepting payment from several parties in order to stay inside the apartment.
