Cambridge Police arrested Jorge Montenegro, 33, 474 Talbot Avenue in Boston, for Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Shoplifting by Concealing. A Central Square store called 911 after loss prevention witnessed Montenegro concealing merchandise in the store. Upon officer arrival, loss prevention pointed out Montenegro. An officer told Montenegro to stop and speak with him as he was making his way towards the exit. Montenegro did not stop, shrugged off one officers hand as he attempted to stop/detain him, and then squared off with a second officer at the exit. Montenegro pushed the second officer in the chest and then wrestled with him in an apparent attempt to flee. Officers tackled Montenegro to the ground to affect an arrest. While Montenegro was on the ground he had his hands pulled into his chest as officers were attempting to handcuff him. Officers were able to gain control of Montenegro hands and place him in handcuffs. Multiple concealed electronics/clothes from the store, valued at a total of $145.94, were found on Montenegro and given back to the store.
