Cambridge Police Department Members Recognized by US Attorney’s Office for Outstanding Collaboration

2024 Cambridge Police Collaboration Award from US Attorney

Cambridge Police Detective Lester Sullivan, Detective Matthew Grassi, Lieutenant Thomas Ahern (Ret.), and Forensic Identification Specialist Brooke Miller received the Outstanding Collaboration Award at the 2024 Law Enforcement Award Ceremony in Boston. Each year, the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts hosts a ceremony to recognize outstanding public service by the agents, officers, and community leaders with whom they work alongside.

The Cambridge Police team was a major contributor in Operation Street Sweeper in 2021. The operation targeted several affiliated criminal street gangs, including members who were involved in a machine gun shooting in Cambridge on July 2, 2020. Daily communication and collaboration led to successful prosecutions in at least a half dozen shootings in the region. Acting US Attorney Joshua S. Levy says Operation Street Sweeper represents a monumental achievement in law enforcement efforts to combat gang violence and drug trafficking.

These awards are given to a limited number of law enforcement personnel and community leaders to recognize their extraordinary commitment to justice and public safety. Congratulations to our officers and professional staff for their remarkable achievement.
