Police responded to a business on the 800 block of Somerville Avenue for a shoplifting incident. When the individual was stopped by police, they assaulted an officer while attempting to flee the business. An officer’s radio microphone was damaged after the suspect grabbed it and ripped it off the officer. Stanley Wood, 44, of Boston, was placed under arrest for assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, destruction of property (wanton), assault and battery on a police officer, attempt to disarm. Wood was also charged with two counts of shoplifting by price tag tampering.
