Cambridge Public Library to Celebrate the Launch of Omo Moses’ Memoir, The White Peril

On Tuesday, January 21 at 6 p.m., the Cambridge Public Library will welcome Omo Moses to celebrate the launch of The White Peril: A Family Memoir in the Main Library Lecture Hall. Moses will give a reading followed by a panel discussion moderated by Tony Clark, co-President of MBK Cambridge. Registration is required. This event is co-sponsored by MBK Cambridge.

Omo Moses grew up in the projects of Cambridge in the 80s and 90s, playing basketball with his brothers and other Black boys his age. In The White Peril, Moses tells a coming-of-age story and a provocative reflection on generations of the Moses family’s unwavering fight for Black freedom in America, a family of giants in America’s Civil Rights movement. Moses’s life—shaped by his father’s legacy, his own struggles, and his commitment to empowering marginalized communities—underscores the transformative potential of education in the fight for justice.

In addition to the book launch on January 21, Moses will join the Central Square Branch on Thursday, February 20, for Homecoming: Celebrating Black Voices, a community storytelling event. Moses will speak about the process of writing a family memoir and his experience living in Cambridge. Attendees will be invited to share their experiences living in Cambridge and how they commemorate those experiences. Registration is required.

Omo Moses is an activist, an educator, and a mediamaker. He is the Founder/CEO of MathTalk, an education technology company that creates products that inspire adults and kids everywhere, particularly those in economically distressed communities, to enjoy math. Moses is a member of the MSNBC Grio 100, a Huffington Post Person of the Day, and a Barr Foundation Fellow.
