Elevator Rescue - March 7, 2025

Shortly after 6 p.m. on Friday, March 7th, the Firefighters of Engine 3, Ladders 2 & 1, Squad 3, Rescue 1, & Division Chief 1 responded to the elevator rescue in a high-rise building in the East Cambridge neighborhood. Firefighters effected a tech rescue via the blind elevator shaft. All technical rescue procedures, rigging, anchors, and safety protocols were utilized.
 
Eleven people were safely removed from the elevator, with one person evaluated by paramedics for a potential medical emergency. The person refused further treatment. 
Group 3 was on duty.

 

Cambridge fire companies have responded to at least 41 elevator rescues since January 1st of this year. In February, firefighters rescued 14 passengers from a stalled elevator in a high-rise on Memorial Drive.

 

In addition to the elvator rescue, Friday, March 7th was a constantly busy day for fire companies across the city with responses including smoke, elevators, car crashes, wires down, trees down, traffic light down, gas leaks, emergency medical calls, electrical hazards, box alarms, fire and carbon monoxide alarm investigations, and much more.
