On Tuesday afternoon at 1226, a "Working Fire" was ordered for the fire at 650 Concord Av., Neville Manor. Arriving with heavy fire and smoke showing from the rear of the building, companies quickly contained & extinguished the fire in the rear of the building while simultaneously evacuating residents to safe areas of the bldg and ventilating to ensure that contaminated air was directed away from residents.
Firefighters from 4 engines, 4 ladders, 2 squads, Rescue 1, and command & support staff worked at the fire.
Of the 61 residents moved to safe areas in the building, only a few were transported for minor evaluation. Unfortunately one firefighter was treated and transported to a medical facility for evaluation.
Thanks to the initial automatic alarm, quick coordinated response by fire companies, & teamwork by Neville Manor staff & other agencies, there was a good outcome to this incident.
As always thank you to our fire department mutual aid partners, for covering in Cambridge and responding to other emergencies in progress in the city on a busy Tuesday.
