9-11 Remembrance Ceremony - 2023
9/12/2023 • 14 months ago
On the 22nd anniversary of the attacks of 9-11, firefighters & staff, along with our city officials & guests, participated in a brief, respectful ceremony to remember the victims of the attacks on America on September 11, 2001.
Every fire house and fire company in the city participated. (Although at least 2 companies left the Lafayette Square event for emergency responses). Photos show the ceremony at fire headquarters (Engine 1, Engine 6, & Ladder 1, with Command Staff, Tech Services, Fire Prevention, City Manager, Mayor, City Officials, and Guests) as well as the ceremonies at the East Cambridge Fire House (Engine 3, Ladder 2, & Rescue 1) and the Taylor Square Fire House (Engine 8, Ladder 4, & Division 2).
In addition to remembering the 343 Fire Department members killed, we honor all those whose lives were lost that day and also in the years since due to cancer and other illnesses as a result of responding to and working at the World Trade Center site. We also remember the brave men and women who have given selflessly in the armed forces to preserve the cause of freedom.
