Rapid Intervention Team hands-on training

6/18/20245 weeks ago

RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) hands-on training has been ongoing. Firefighters practice these RIT skills using proper techniques & safety protocols in a very fast-moving & intense search & rescue of a frefighter in a "MayDay" situation or a  "downed firefighter" in simulated scenarios and includes the PASS (Personal Alert Safety System) device protocol as well.

The search for the firefighter in distress includes following a hose line to the firefighter and the disciplined use of a search rope with no hose line. The training exercise is completed in zero visibility.

Members work in full PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) while breathing SCBA (Self Contained Breahting Apparatus) air.

All evolutions are critiqued. Training staff, senior firefighters, company officers, & chief officers coach firefighters as needed to mainiain the optimal skills level.

Engines 1 & 3, Ladder 4, & Squad 2 are shown in these photos from June 17, 2024 with group 2 on duty.
Thank you to the Training Staff & PSIT (Public Safety Information Tech) staff for providing real-time support as needed.
