USS Salem Technical Rescue Exercise at Quincy Shipyard

On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, Tech Rescue Firefighters from Cambridge, Chelsea, Brockton, Quincy, Revere, & Somerville Fire Departments participated in a Technical Rescue exercise on the USS Salem in Quincy at the Fore River Shipyard. Following the safety & ops briefing & securing of equipment, all firefighters worked on tech rescue skills including confined space rescue & hi-angle/rope rescue on this US Navy heavy cruiser. 

Note that as part of the confined space operation, air quality was monitored continually for O2 levels & presence of other gases. As in all tech rescue skills, the operation is all about teamwork and communication. The members from the various fire departments operated seamlessly as one team.
