On Sunday morning, Nov 17, 2024, Cambridge Fire companies participated in an extended training exercise involving a simulated fire, with mass casualties, on an MBTA "Purple Line" commuter rail train. The train was located on the railbed in the Inner Belt/Cobble Hill area of Somerville.
Somerville Fire Department, as well as numerous metro Fire Departments, EMS Agencies, & Police Departments worked together seamlessly, again, to control the simulated fire, ensure scene safety, triage patients, provide emergency medical care, package and transport patients, and much more.
Cambridge Rescue 1, Squad 3, Division 1, Engine 3 & Ladder 2 participated. Cambridge group 4 was on duty.

Following rehab and making up all equipment, the exercise was reviewed for lessons reinforced. It was a worthwhile experience for all agencies working together.
