Cambridge Police Arrest Two Suspects Responsible for Multiple Mid-Cambridge Housebreaks

Cambridge Police arrested two suspects yesterday connected with multiple housebreaks in a Harvard Street apartment building and a Lee Street home in Mid-Cambridge.

Allen Bolden, Jr., 32, homeless, and Danavian Daniel, 21, homeless, were arrested on multiple charges, including Breaking and Entering in the Daytime and Attempting to Commit a Crime. Officers immediately responded to Harvard Street on Wednesday, July 30 at approximately 12:26 p.m. after an observant resident of a multi-unit apartment building reported two individuals checking doors and that a potential housebreak may be in progress.  The first two officers to arrive accessed the building by a resident and they quickly located two suspects who acknowledged they didn’t live at the apartment building. One suspect was wearing a backpack, carrying a small lunch cooler, concealing a screwdriver on his waistband, and storing a pair of black gloves and a medical bill in his pockets. Further investigation by the officers led to the discovery of a matching pair of black gloves in a stairwell. A crowbar, two laptops, an iPad, multiple pieces of jewelry, and cash were located inside the backpack and cooler.         

Officers then searched the apartment building and identified fresh pry marks on four apartment doors consistent with the flathead screwdriver and one vacant unit that was accessed and ransacked.  The name on the previously located medical bill matched the name of the remaining mail located in the ransacked apartment. 

Detectives then obtained information off of the stolen iPad and identified the owner of the device to be a resident of Lee Street, which is approximately four blocks away from the Harvard Street housebreaks. Pry marks were located on the home’s front door and the residence was also missing cash.     

“This case involved great collaboration between a vigilant resident who quickly contacted the police, our officers and detectives,” stated Deputy Superintendent Paul Ames. “That led not only to a pair of arrests, but halted what could have been a pattern of additional housebreaks.”

The details contained above are allegations.  The suspects are presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
