Medford Man Arraigned in Connection with Death of Rasaun Nichols

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commissioner Robert Haas have announced that Roosselin Altidor, 25, of Medford was arraigned today in Cambridge District Court on a charge of murder in connection with a homicide in Cambridge on Wednesday, August 12.  Judge J. Michele Hogan ordered Altidor held without bail and scheduled the next court hearing in this case for Friday, September 18, at 9 a.m.

“We are very grateful to members of the community who offered information following this murder,” said District Attorney Ryan.  “Good results can occur when people come forward with information they believe may be relevant.   Each bit of information, no matter how insignificant it may seem to someone, can help lead detectives on the path to solving a crime.  Law enforcement and members of the victim’s family appreciate the kind of cooperation which we have seen in this investigation.”

Haas.  "Since this senseless tragedy took place, we received tremendous cooperation from the community and aggressively pursued piecing together all of the vital information to bring the person responsible for this tragic event to justice."

Authorities say that on Wednesday, August 12, at approximately 8:41 p.m., shots were fired in the vicinity of 119 Windsor Street in Cambridge.  Rasaun Nichols, 31, of Cambridge, was struck by gunshots while in a vehicle that was departing Newtowne Court.  That vehicle was driven down Main Street toward Kendall Square, where it later stopped.  Unsuccessful attempts were made to save Mr. Nichols.

This charge is an allegation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

This incident remains an open and active investigation by the Cambridge Police Department and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
