Please be advised that the Cambridge Public Schools received an e-mailed threat today indicating a bomb threat is planned for tomorrow, Friday, January 22, 2016, against Cambridge Public Schools. We have notified the Cambridge Police and are working in collaboration with them. At this time, no evidence has been found to substantiate the threat here in Cambridge.
As was the case during the December threats, heightened security will be in place at ALL schools. Schools will be locked overnight and an investigation has been initiated. Additionally, a visible police and security presence will be in place at all schools tomorrow morning. All other doors will be locked. Schools will remain in session for tomorrow unless otherwise noted.
As you may be aware, several schools in Massachusetts and other states around the country have received bomb threats in recent weeks. These threats were investigated and determined to be unfounded in all cases.
If your child/student has questions about these threats or their safety, we encourage you to reassure him or her that the police and the adults in the schools are taking extra steps to keep kids safe, and there is no reason to worry. We will alert you if any further safety measures are taken. As always, we appreciate your cooperation and support for our schools and students.
If you notice anything unusual or suspicious in or around CPS buildings, please contact the Police Department by calling 911 for an emergency or 617-349-3300 for non-emergency messages. Again, we thank you for your continuing support.
