Last Wednesday, several members of the Cambridge Police Department were recognized by the United States Attorney’s Office with 2016 Law Enforcement Public Service Awards.
The following officers from CPD received the Outstanding Collaborative Investigation Award for their work with the FBI, ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives), MIT Police and Massachusetts State Police on the case of U.S. versus Stephen Silva:
With their local, state and federal partners, these officers along with the Special Investigations Unit at CPD were able to identify, prosecute and convict Silva, who had provided the Ruger semiautomatic handgun to Dzhokhar Tsarnaev that was used to kill MIT Police Officer Sean A. Collier.
