Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commissioner Christopher Burke have confirmed the identity of the bicyclist who was fatally struck today in Porter Square. Bernard Lavins, 60, of Lexington, was struck by a tractor-trailer at approximately 8:08 a.m. this morning. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver remained on scene following the collision. This is an open and active investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Cambridge Police Department and the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section. No additional information is being released at this time.
