Well over one hundred people – a majority who were young girls and boys – came to the Cambridge Police Station on Thursday, April 20th for the Cambridge Science Festival. Technicians from the Cambridge Police Crime Scene Services Unit demonstrated how they process major crime scenes and collect evidence. Participants also had an opportunity to learn more about the myths and realities involved in processing a crime scene, understand how to handle fingerprints, walk through the steps to package and ultimately analyze key evidence, and test some of the Crime Scene tools and technology.
Each participant walked away with knowledge and bags, water bottles and police badges from the Cambridge Police.
The Cambridge Science Festival, the first of its kind in the United States, is a celebration showcasing fun and the leading edge in science, technology, engineering, art, and/or math in our region. A multifaceted, multicultural event, the Cambridge Science Festival makes science accessible, interactive and fun, highlighting the impact of STEAM in all our lives.
