September is National Preparedness Month (NPM), a month-long effort that encourages households, businesses, and communities to prepare and plan for emergencies. As part of this year’s initiative, public safety agencies in the City of Cambridge are stressing the importance of subscribing to the city's alert network, Smart911 and RapidSOS Haven app.

To subscribe to the Cambridge Alert Network, which is comprised of multiple services that help keep residents and businesses informed of important emergency and non-emergency information from the City of Cambridge, please visit http://www.cambridgema.gov/Services/CambridgeAlertNetwork.

To sign up for RapidSOS' Haven App, which allows you to transmit data directly to 9-1-1, including your type of emergency, GPS location, and relevant medical and demographic data, please visit https://www.rapidsos.com/referrals/cambridgema/.

To sign up for Smart911, which is provides key information about your home as well as members of your household that would help anyone you care for in the event of an emergency, whether the call is from the home or any mobile phone, please visit https://www.smart911.com/.

We encourage residents to follow the City of Cambridge on social media throughout National Preparedness Month to receive tips on staying prepared and how to get involved.
