INCIDENT  18003113

LICENSE SUSPENDED/REVOKED, OP MV WITH C90 S23

MASSACHUSETTS AVE

A Cambridge Police Officer observed a vehicle pull over to the side of Massachusetts Avenue, a public way in Cambridge, and park in a "No Stopping - Tow Zone". After the operator stepped out of the vehicle, the officer conducted a field interview on the operator as he was believed to have a warrant issued for his arrest. The operator of the vehicle identified himself as James Bonaventure, 24, of 1 Brookline Place, Cambridge. A query of Bonaventure revealed that his driver's license was Suspended and the vehicle was registered to a company known to rent out vehicles to criminals. Bonaventure could not produce the rental agreement or registration to the vehicle. Bonaventure was subsequently placed under arrest for Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License. Prior to towing the illegally parked motor vehicle, an inventory search was performed. During the search, a loaded firearm was located in a black backpack in the trunk of the vehicle. In addition to the six rounds inside the firearm, another six rounds of ammunition and several documents with Bonaventure's name were located in the same black backpack. Also located in the vehicle was 1.05 oz with packaging containing green leafy substance matter consistent with marijuana, an electronic digital pocket-sized scale, numerous sandwich bags, sealable plastic bags (1 pound size and 1/2 pound size) and 58 pills for which a prescription was not located. A search of Bonaventure revealed a large amount of cash carried in a manner consistent with street-level drug distribution. Further investigation revealed that Bonaventure had no legal authority to be in possession of a firearm or ammunition. Bonaventure will additionally be charged with Carrying a Firearm Without License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without License, Possession of Ammunition without FID Card, Possession of Class E Drug, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Drug.
