MASSACHUSETTS AVE

Cambridge Police responded for a large fight outside of a Central Square business involving approximately 50 people. Sunil Nepali, 32, of 62 Highland Ave, Somerville MA, was subsequently arrested for Disorderly Conduct. Nepali's tumultuous behavior created great risk of physical harm to other people who were in the area. Other people in the area that were witnessing Nepali's behavior appeared to be alarmed and tried to move away as he was creating a physically offensive condition in the area that served no legitimate purpose. As Nepali was leaving the area he was observed by officers to engage in a physical fight with another male and push him to the ground, throwing several punches at him. Nepali was subsequently placed under arrest.

ALEWIFE BROOK PKWY

Cambridge Police responded to an Alewife Brook Parkway business for a report of a person armed with a knife. It was determined that an armed robbery had occurred and that the suspect had fled in a motor vehicle. A short time later, Cambridge Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on the suspect vehicle on Fresh Pond Parkway near Larch Road. As a result of the investigation, Shanice Guerra, 20, of 38 Annunciation Road, Boston MA, was placed under arrest for armed robbery (to wit knife), assault by means of a dangerous weapon (to wit knife) and for warrants out of Woburn District Court for Unlawful Possession of Theft Detection Device Deactivator and Shoplifting Over $100 by Concealing Merchandise, Falmouth District Court for Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and East Boston District Court for Uttering a False Check.

Cambridge Police Explosive Ordinance Unit responded to a call of an unattended backpack under a vehicle on Essex Street. Upon arrival, the backpack was cleared by Tango 7 and K9 Rumba. The backpack was open and contained clothing and uncapped hypodermic needles. The bag was disposed of to prevent additional calls for the same item.

Vincent Gabriello, 37, of 25 Farragut Avenue, Medford, MA, was arrested for possession of a class B substance and uttering a forged document after he attempted to cash a stolen check at a bank. Deanna Sharpe 33, of 13 Doane Street, Medford MA, was arrested on a warrant out of Somerville District Court for Disorderly Conduct, as well as Possession of a Class B Substance after it was found to be in her possession, and Receiving Stolen Property after being found in possession of stolen checks.

Officers responded to Cambridgeside Place for a report of shoplifting. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a resident of Marlborough, MA had a taken several items without paying for them. The total amount of the stolen merchandise was $227.49. She received a summons for shoplifting over $100 by asportation.

Fawzi Alfrihat, 41, out of 18 Metcalf Street, E Medford, MA, was arrested for Larceny over $250.00 and Malicious Destruction of Property. He was observed by the manager of an electronics store taking a cell phone from a display table which was attached to a security wire. He then exited the store without purchasing it. Cambridge Police and mall security were alerted and Mr. Alfrihat was apprehended a short distance away. The phone was recovered and delivered back to the store.

Cambridge Police responded to the intersection of Franklin Street and River Street for a report of a fight between a group of six or seven individuals. Upon arrival, it was determined that a physical altercation took place between multiple juveniles. The suspects fled the scene prior to the arrival of Cambridge Police. The victim of the assault was transported to a local medical facility where she was treated for her injuries.
