A Watertown resident reported being struck on their bicycle when a vehicle door opened into the bicycle lane on July 19. The reporting party spoke to the driver of the vehicle and does not wish any police action to be taken, only that the crash be reported in the bicycle statistics.

Officers observed a male known to police as John Murphy, 53, homeless, walking on Massachusetts Avenue by Linnaean Street. Murphy was known to have an active warrant out of Cambridge District Court for Larceny From Building and was placed into custody without incident.

Jennifer Wooten, 52, 214 Harvard Street, Dorchester, was placed under arrest for Shoplifting by Asportation. She was observed by loss prevention officers in an Alewife Brook Parkway business exiting the store with merchandise valued at $116.

A resident of Arlington reported that items had been stolen out of their wallet while it was left unattended in a waiting room. Officers located a suspect who confessed to the theft and agreed to return the stolen items. The victim elected not to press charges.

A Dorchester resident reported that, after losing their wallet in a Central Square business, almost $500 was charged to two of their credit cards from multiple locations in Cambridge.

A resident of Cambridge reported that their bicycle was stolen from the Brattle Square area between 8:30 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. The bicycle was locked to a fixed post.

PINE STREET

A resident of Cambridge was summonsed for Destruction of Property Under $1200 and Malicious Destruction after damaging the door to a residence. The person inside the residence had found the defendant’s lost cell phone and was trying to figure out how to return it when the defendant, who had located the phone via GPS, arrived and attempted to smash through the door.

A Boston resident reported that items were stolen from their wallet while it was secured in a gym locker between 5:45 and 7:15 p.m. The stolen credit card was charged at several locations in Cambridge and other cities.

Tatyana Gray, 24, 130 Rowe Street 1, Roslindale, was placed under arrest for a warrant out of Cambridge District Court for Larceny Over $1200 and Unlawful Possession of Theft Detection Shielding Device, as well as a new charge of Shoplifting by Asportation. Gray was observed by loss prevention officers in a Massachusetts Avenue business exiting the store with merchandise she had not paid for.

At 9:01 p.m., Cambridge Police and Fire Units were dispatched to Hancock Street for a report of a suspicious suitcase on the sidewalk. The suitcase was disposed of after being cleared by officers and a K9 from the Explosive Ordnance Unit.

LARCENY UNDER $1200 c266 S30(1)

CAMBRIDGESIDE PLACE

Officers responded for a report of a stolen bicycle. The bicycle, which is described as a turquoise Specialized Sirrus V-BRAKE, was locked to a bike rack on Canal Park and taken between approximately 12:50 and 10:00 p.m. The bicycle was gone and the lock was cut off and left on the ground.
