A report was taken for a hit and run crash involving a parked motor vehicle on Massachusetts Avenue. The vehicle, which was parked legally in a handicapped space, was struck and damaged between 6:00 p.m. August 13 and 7:30 a.m. August 14.

A resident of Randolph reported their bicycle stolen from their workplace in North Cambridge. The bicycle, which is described as a dark red Motopecan hybrid, was stolen was locked to a bike rack between 5:00 p.m. August 13 and 7:30 a.m. August 14. The cable lock was torn off.

Officers responded for a motor vehicle crash involving a bicyclist. The operator of a parked motor vehicle had opened their door in the path of an oncoming bicyclist, who hit the door and sustained minor injuries.

LARCENY UNDER $1200 BY SINGLE SCHEME c266 S30(1)

MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE

Jason Jones, 31, 459 North Quincy Street, Brockton, was placed under arrest for Larceny By Scheme and Resisting Arrest. Jones was apprehended at a Harvard Square bank while trying to receive cash from a victim who had been passed a fraudulent check. Jones actively resisted arrest, resulting in injuries to two officers.

A business on Main Street reported an attempted breaking and entering that occurred between 11:00 p.m. August 12 and 7:00 a.m. August 13. An unknown suspect attempted to force the locked door open, causing significant damaged to the door and door frame.

A Cambridge resident reported being the victim of a scam at approximately 1:45 p.m. August 11. The victim was approached by an unknown male in Harvard Square and asked to cash a check for him. After doing so, the victim was informed by their bank that the check was fraudulent.

A resident of North Cambridge reported the theft of their son’s bicycle from a bicycle room on Clifton Place sometime on August 13. The bicycle is described as a black and red Kent boy’s model with pegs on the rear tires and 18” wheels.

Officers responded to a Pleasant Street residence for a report of a breaking and entering that occurred between 8:00 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. The victim returned home to find their front door open and deadbolt broken. A Dell laptop was stolen.

A resident of Cambridge reported that tens of thousands of air miles had been stolen from their account with a commercial airline sometime in early January of this year. It is not known how the unknown suspect accessed the victim’s account and removed the air miles.

A Cambridgeside Place business reported a shoplifting. A white male suspect approximately 25 to 35 years of age, wearing a black baseball cap and blue t-shirt, removed two handbags valued at $260 from the store without offering payment. The suspect used an unknown tool to remove the anti-theft devices from the merchandise.

Officers responded to a Child Street apartment building for a report of a larceny. A male suspect stole a guest logbook from the front counter in search of contact information for advertising purposes. The logbook did not contain any identifying information and was returned at approximately 10:30 p.m.

A resident of Fayette Street reported being the victim of identity fraud. An unknown suspect attempted to open a line of credit in the victim’s name. The suspect succeeded in switching the victim’s phone number over to another carrier.

FRANKLIN STREET

Officers assigned to the Area Four Gun Violence Task Force observed two males sharing a bottle of alcohol on the steps of a church and investigated further. Suspected crack cocaine was found on one individual’s person, while the other was found to be in possession of Gabapentin without a prescription. As a result, David Lowe, 60, 40 Fairmont Street, was placed under arrest for Drinking in Public From an Open Container and Possession of a Class E Drug. David Johnson, 40, 165 Western Avenue, was placed under arrest for Drinking in Public From an Open Container and Possession of a Class B Drug.
