PORTLAND ST
Cambridge Police observed a suspicious vehicle with three occupants on Harvard Street. A query of the vehicle revealed that the car was unregistered. Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop in front of Portland Street. The operator of the vehicle was identified as a resident of Lincoln, Rhode Island. His Rhode Island driver's license is suspended and he does not have a Massachusetts driver's license. Dispatch confirmed that the vehicle was unregistered and uninsured. Officers observed a knife in a sheath next to the center console. All occupants of the vehicle were instructed to exit the car, so that it could be towed. As the rear left-seat passenger (identified as James Barrows, 25, 130 Harvard Street in Cambridge) exited the vehicle, officers asked him if he had any weapons/drugs on his person. Barrows stated that he did not have any weapons on him and he pulled a mason jar of a green-leafy substance (consistent with marijuana) out of his right shorts pocket. As he pulled the mason jar out of his pocket, officers noticed a small baggie of a white, rock-like substance fall from his hand/shorts. The baggie landed on the ground next to Barrows's feet. Officers confirmed that the baggie contained approximately three grams of cocaine. Barrows was placed under arrest and charged with Possession Class B Drug. The driver is being summonsed to court for the following offenses: Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License, Unregistered Motor Vehicle and Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
