CPD Recognizes Officers Professional Staff and Community Partners at 17th Annual Awards Ceremony

Friends, family members and city dignitaries gathered in the Kresge Auditorium at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Thursday, May 2, 2019 to honor the admirable work conducted by officers, professional staff and community partners associated with the Cambridge Police Department.

Among the highlights, seven officers were recognized with Herbert Halliday Lifesaving Ribbons for their heroic lifesaving efforts in three separate incidents, one of which occurred while an officer was off-duty. Two awards were given to officers and other personnel who were instrumental in halting and preventing sex trafficking rings.

Notable awards were presented to the following officers and staff:

  • Officer Robert Ciriello, 2018 Patrol Officer of the Year
  • Detective Brian O’Connor, 2018 Detective of the Year
  • Officer Matthew Mahoney, 2018 Specialist Officer of the Year
  • Sergeant Joseph Keough, 2018 Superior Officer of the Year
  • Elana Klein, 2018 Professional Staff Employee of the Year
