At approximately 12:45 p.m., a Belmont resident was stopped operating his motor vehicle on Main Street after he was observed failing to stop for a red light on Ames Street. A license query revealed the operator’s license had expired in 2018. The operator was issued a criminal citation.

MEMORIAL DR
At 8:31 p.m., Cambridge Police arrested Jason Hainey, 53, Irene Circle in Brockton for one charge of Shoplifting by Asportation. Police were called by a local electronic store’s staff for a report of a shoplifter. Police were notified that the suspect took unknown merchandise from the store and fled up Magazine Street. Officers located the Suspect, identified as the defendant Jason Hainey, matching the description provided by witnesses, and stopped him at the intersection of Pearl Street and Erie Street. Hainey consented to a search of his backpack where officers located two microphones. The store’s staff confirmed that the microphones, valued at $195.48, were stolen from their store and matched the opened/empty microphone boxes that had been found in the bathroom stall that the suspect had fled from. A video/photo of the shoplifter was taken by the store’s staff as he was fleeing the store and provided to officers, which matched Hainey's likeness exactly.
