The Cambridge Police today announced that two 23-year-old Cambridge men face a number of charges following a multi-day investigation by Detectives that led to the recovery of a loaded firearm, stolen laptops and drugs. On Monday, March 2 at approximately 9:43 p.m., Officers observed a vehicle driving in the area of Western Avenue and Montague Street without a valid inspection sticker. After attempting to stop the vehicle, the driver fled. Minutes later, Officers located the vehicle running and abandoned at the intersection of Willard Street and Foster Street. Officers searched the area, but were not able to locate the occupants of the vehicle. After the vehicle was towed, Officers searched the vehicle, per policy, and located five laptops (several of which have been recently reported stolen), Oxycodone pills and Xanax pills. Further investigation led to Officers identifying the driver and a passenger in the vehicle. A 23-year-old Cambridge man was summonsed to Cambridge District Court for Receiving Stolen Property $1,200+, Possession of a Class B Drug and Possession to Distribute a Class C Drug. Antonio Downing, 23, Cambridge, was arrested on warrants out of Cambridge District Court for Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card, Possession of Ammunition with an FID Card and Failure to Secure a Firearm.

Separate from the aforementioned investigation, a loaded firearm was reported by a resident underneath their car in a Bradbury Street parking lot on Wednesday, March 4 at approximately 9:11 a.m. The recovered firearm was recovered in close proximity to where the abandoned vehicle from March 2 was located. Officers processed the scene and took custody of the firearm. An investigation into this incident remains ongoing.
