Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commissioner Branville Bard, Jr. have confirmed that the victim of the fatal motor vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer and a bicyclist in the area of Harvard Square MBTA Station has been identified as Darryl Willis, 55.
On August 18, 2020, at approximately 9:42 a.m., Cambridge Police and Fire responded to the area of Massachusetts Avenue at Dunster Street, Cambridge, for a report of a motor vehicle crash. A preliminary investigation suggests that a 54-year-old man was driving a commercial tractor-trailer westbound on Massachusetts Avenue (away from Harvard Square) when the collision occurred. Upon arrival, officers located the deceased victim in the right travel lane and bicycle lane on 1401 Massachusetts Avenue. The driver of the tractor-trailer remained on the scene.
The investigation remains active and no charges have been filed at this time. The prosecutor assigned to this case is Rachel Shute.
