On July 26, the Cambridge Police shared a notification following a shooting in the area of Harvard Street and Cherry Street, in which a vehicle and two residential buildings were damaged due to a series of gunshots. A vehicle fled from the area and later crashed on I-93 in Boston. The operator of the vehicle then ran from the scene and was not located following an initial search.
Through follow-up investigations, law enforcement has identified the operator of the fleeing vehicle. A search of a 27-year-old Boston man’s residence led to the recovery of keys consistent with the make and model of the vehicle and a loaded Glock Model 43x 9mm firearm. He has been arrested and charged with one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. Detectives with the Cambridge Police Department accompanied federal agents when the arrest was served at his residence.
