caution sign The information on this page may be outdated as it was published 3 years ago.

An early morning shooting in the area of Portland Street is being investigated by the Cambridge Police Department. Six parked vehicles were struck on Main Street and Portland Street, while another vehicle with ballistic damage was located on Portland Street and Harvard Street. There are no known injuries.

At approximately 2:09 a.m., nearby Officers patrolling The Port heard multiple gunshots and received a ShotSpotter activation. One Officer turned right onto Main Street and pulled into a parking lot at the corner of Main Street and Portland Street where several individuals were located. They then left the area upon the arrival of officers. One witness flagged down an Officer and reported seeing a sedan drive up Main Street and take a right onto Columbia Street.

At this time, there have been no arrests made in association with this shooting. Officers will be processing evidence from the gunshots, as well as securing a search warrant for one of the struck vehicles taken into custody. The Cambridge Police has greatly enhanced its visibility in the area as a result of recent gun violence and will continue to remain highly visible in the area through directed patrols (walking, bicycle and vehicle) and community outreach. Nine out of the 11 confirmed gunshot incidents in 2021 in the City of Cambridge have occurred within The Port neighborhood, including five non-fatal shootings since July 15.
