An investigation revealed that a vehicle had a revoked registration due to canceled insurance and was parked on a public way maintained by the City of Cambridge. A criminal application has been filed for the listed violations.

Cambridge Police responded to Harvard Street for a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, a CPD Officer observed Karmau Willim Cotton-Landers, 28, 99 Border Street in East Boston, discard a firearm into a nearby bush. A second officer engaged in a brief foot pursuit of Sixianaliz Guzman, 23, 90 Ward Street in Boston, where a second firearm was recovered along with suspected crack cocaine. Cotton-Landers will be charged with the following: Carrying a Firearm without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Without an FID Card. Guzman will be charged with the following: Carrying a Firearm without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Without an FID Card, Possession of a Class B Drug, and Trespassing.

MAIN ST
Cambridge Police responded to the intersection of Main Street at Vassar Street for a motor vehicle crash involving an police cruiser. An investigation revealed that a resident of Everett was operating a vehicle on a learner’s permit without a licensed operator over the age of 21 in the passenger seat and with at least one year of driving experience. Further investigation also revealed that the motorist failed to yield to an emergency vehicle with its blue lights activated while responding to a call for service, which resulted in a motor vehicle crash. As a result, the driver will be summonsed for the following crimes: Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Failure to Yield to Emergency Vehicle.

While in the area of Green Street and Magazine on a park and walk, a CPD officer was assaulted by Ariana Rankins, 35, unhoused, who had attempted to get into the back seat of a marked police vehicle, placing her bag in the back seat while drinking a large can of beer. Officer removed the bag and Rankins threw the beer all over the officer and began to walk down Western Avenue after dropping the beer can on the street. As Rankin was being placed into the wagon for transport to station, she turned and spit on an officer. Rankin was charged with a city ordinance violation, drinking/possession of alcohol in public, disorderly conduct and assault and battery on a police officer, throwing a beer,and spitting in the face and body of an officer.

He was subsequently placed under arrest.
