MASSACHUSETTS AVE
Cambridge Police placed Jeffrey Mello, 38, 39 Boylston Street in Boston, under arrest for shoplifting by asportation. Mello was also discovered to have warrants out of Somerville District Court (Shoplifting by Asportation),Roxbury District Court (Larceny Under $1,200), and Fall River District Court (Larceny by Check over $1,200 and Uttering a False Check). An officer was inside of a local business on Massachusetts Avenue in Central Square conducting a follow up with Lost Prevention regarding other shoplifting cases when the Lost Prevention Manager thought that an individual was acting erratically and was disclosing items in a personal bag. The Lost Prevention Manager asked that this officer conduct a stop on the individual if he walks out of the store without paying. The suspect later identified as Mello attempted to walk out of the business without paying, and had no way of paying for the items totaling $125.49.
