MBTA Transportation Access Pass
Passengers with disabilities can ride local MBTA buses for 85 cents, inner express buses for $2.50, and outer express buses for $3.50. Persons with disabilities can also ride MBTA subway services for $1.10 and commuter rail or boat services for 50% off the regular full fare and for a discounted fare to Logan.
In addition, passengers with disabilities can purchase a monthly pass (good for unlimited travel on local bus and subway) for $30.00. No discounts apply to express bus passes, commuter rail passes, or boat passes.
Discounted rides and passes require a Transportation Access Pass (TAP) CharlieCard, for which persons may apply by completing the MBTA’s TAP CharlieCard Application, which then must be either mailed or brought to the CharlieCard Store in the underground concourse of Downtown Crossing Station in Boston. Applicants must present a valid Driver’s License or State ID with an expiration date from the Registry of Motor Vehicles or a Passport.
