The Cambridge Public Library supports parents and educators in helping children become their best selves.
Special Programs and Resources
1000 Books Before Kindergarten |
The Cambridge Public Library invites all pre-kindergarten children and their families to read 1000 Books Before Kindergarten and begin a lifetime of learning and fun. Get a free tote bag when you sign up and earn your very own books with each milestone met. |
Kindergarten Library Card Partnership |
In partnership with Cambridge Public Schools and the City of Cambridge, this initiative enables all five-year-old kindergarten children to receive their first library card from the Cambridge Public Library in their classroom unless they opt out. |
Welcome, Baby!
Newborns living in Cambridge receive a packet of board books and resources. The Library sends these packets a minimum of six months after a baby’s birth. Co-sponsored with the Agenda for Children Literacy initiative.
Come Visit the Library
Bring your group or class and learn how the library works! We’ll show you around and make sure everyone has a library card. Hear a story, take a quick tour and check out books or explore resources on a specific topic. Call your local branch to schedule a visit.
Visits from the Library
We’ll come to you! If you’re looking for story time, a classroom book talk, a speaker request or having a library table at your event, we’d like to partner with you. Call us at 617-349-4038 for more information or to request a visit to your school or organization.
Assignments and Projects
We are eager to make our resources accessible to teachers and students. With advance notice, children's librarians can set aside materials relevant to a project or assignment and request additional materials as well. We can also help your students navigate online resources and databases.
Story Kits
Accredited Family Child Care Providers can receive delivery of theme-related books. Co-sponsored with the Agenda for Children Literacy Initiative.
