The Department of Public Works Urban Forestry Division and members from the Committee on Public Planting and Green Cambridge will be outside the Main Library from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., weather permitting. Members of the community are invited to come learn about Cambridge’s Urban Forest. Staff will be giving away free seedlings, coloring books, crayons and more!
Librarians will be leading an Arbor Week theme Toddler Time at 11 a.m., reading a tree-themed book to children outside the library. The manager of Borrower Services will have children's books on trees available outside to check out and take home!
Join us in the afternoon for a free, hands-on celebration of trees and community and take part in The Community Grafting Project woodblock printing activities with TSKP X ikd. Free and all ages are welcome!
Wood Print Activity 12-4 p.m.
Drop by anytime to make your own beautiful tree ring print. We’ll provide all materials and guide you through the process. It’s a fun, creative way to appreciate the natural beauty and story each tree holds. All ages welcome!
Grafting Workshop 1-3 p.m.
Led by plant specialist Sean Halloran, this special workshop offers hands-on instruction in grafting techniques. It’s especially designed for participants in the Community Grafting Project who will be hosting trees at their home, but if space allows, members of the public are welcome to join.
