The recent winter storm events have narrowed many streets in Cambridge. East Cambridge has been particularly impacted by these conditions, and the City is taking steps to improve public safety during current snow conditions.
Starting Thursday, February 19, selected streets in East Cambridge will temporarily change from two-way streets to one-way streets. Crews will begin posting “Do Not Enter” signs throughout the neighborhood on Thursday.
- Please look for signs indicating the "Do Not Enter" locations.
- We ask that residents follow the new directional plan, as it will reduce conflicts and improve access for public safety vehicles.
- We understand that some parked vehicles will be facing the wrong way. These vehicles will not be ticketed, but please park in the new direction when you return
- Please continue to use caution as you navigate the city on foot, bike or vehicle. The snow is reducing sightlines at corners and narrowing streets throughout the city.
We expect these traffic shifts to be in place until April 1. Please refer to the map below for affected streets. Over the next week, city staff will continue to evaluate streets throughout the city to determine if additional changes are warranted.
We appreciate your continued patience and efforts as we manage historic amounts of snow in our city.
