Trash collection on the Friday collection route (Central Square, MIT, and Cambridgeport), will not be collected on Friday, October 27th. Recycling and yard waste collection will occur as usual for the Friday route on Friday, October 27th.
Due to all-staff safety trainings, Friday's trash collection will be delayed one day and trash will be picked up on Saturday, October 28th.
Residents may place their trash, recycling, and yard waste out as usual for Friday collection, but are encouraged to place trash out on Friday evening or Saturday morning, if possible, to help prevent rodent activity.
“This is an opportunity to provide valuable workplace and roadway safety training to all members of our sanitation division,” said Public Works Commissioner Owen O’Riordan. “We realize this may be an inconvenience for some residents, but this is an important initiative that we are excited to implement and we are thankful for peoples’ understanding.”
Members of the sanitation division will receive injury prevention training as well as Vision Zero training around strategies to eliminate all traffic fatalities and severe injuries, while increasing safe, healthy, equitable mobility for all.
