Construction work will be performed by the MBTA and Newport Construction near the intersection of Aberdeen Avenue and Mt. Auburn Street from
9AM to 3:30PM daily, beginning on February 9th and ending on February 16th. Aberdeen Avenue and Mt. Auburn Street will be open to traffic with police details maintaining traffic flow. Expect temporary lane closures, on Mt. Auburn Street, during construction activities.
The purpose of the work is to repair underground MBTA electrical infrastructure from an MBTA utility pole in the median on Aberdeen Avenue to an underground electrical structure on the cemetery side of Mt. Auburn Street.
- Phase One of the work will be to install new underground conduit encased with concrete. The work is scheduled to be done during a normal weekday shift beginning at 7AM and ending at 3:30PM. Work on Phase One is scheduled for a six-day period beginning on February 9th and ending on February 16th.
- Phase Two of the work will be the installation of electrical conductors and systems by the MBTA. The schedule for this work is undetermined at this time. Additional flyers will be distributed once the work is scheduled.
- Phase Three of the work will be to restore the disturbed grass and planting areas in the median. The work will be performed in the spring by Newport Construction. The schedule for this work is undetermined at this time. Additional flyers will be distributed once the work is scheduled.
