The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project (EMMCP) has begun the second round of treating Cambridge catch basins with larvicide to help control West Nile Virus in the City. The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project was established in 1945 as a Trust Agency of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and provides mosquito control services to 26 participating communities located west and northwest of Boston.

This pesticide is classified as low-risk toxicity to humans, other mammals, fish, bees and birds.

EMMCP staff on bicycles will add a packet of larvicide to a catch basin and paint an orange dot next to catch basins that have been treated.
