We invite you to join us for a Steel Topping-Off Ceremony, which will take place on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. The event will be held at the construction site located at 450 Concord Avenue, Cambridge, MA. A steel topping-off ceremony is a construction industry tradition that marks a significant milestone in the construction of a building. The ceremony involves placing the final steel beam in its position at the top of the building's framework.
Last week, project staff made their way to the temporary Tobin and Vassal Lane Upper Schools, with the 28-foot steel beam ahead of the Topping Off Ceremony. This massive piece of structural history was destined for a unique purpose—to become a canvas for the students and staff to leave their mark. With markers in hand, students and staff enthusiastically etched their names onto the steel beam, leaving a lasting legacy.
Join us in celebrating the dedication and hard work of everyone involved in making these outstanding educational facilities a reality.
