Holiday Season Curbside Collection, Christmas Tree Pickup, and Street Cleaning Updates

As the holiday season approaches, here are some important updates about waste collection and street cleaning in Cambridge:

Curbside Collection

  • No collections on:
    • Wednesday, December 25, 2024 (Christmas Day)
    • Wednesday, January 1, 2025 (New Year’s Day)
  • Collection delay: Trash, recycling, and compost collections will be delayed by one day for the remainder of those weeks.

Yard Waste

  • Final yard waste collection: December 26–31, 2024 (based on your regular collection day).
  • Yard waste collection resumes: April 1, 2025.

Recycling Center Hours

  • Open Tuesdays & Thursdays, 4–7:30 p.m., and Saturdays, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. during the holiday season.
  • Closed on Tuesday, December 24, 2024 (Christmas Eve).

Christmas Tree Collection

  • Curbside pickup: Un-decorated Christmas trees will be collected from January 2–14, 2025, on your regular collection day.
    • Remove decorations and stands.
    • Do not place trees in plastic bags.
  • Drop-off option: Bare trees can be brought to the Recycling Center during open hours through February 1, 2025.

Street Cleaning Schedule

  • Streets scheduled for sweeping on December 24 and December 25 will instead be swept on December 30 and December 31, 2024.
  • Last day of winter street cleaning: December 31, 2024. Street cleaning will resume in April 2025.
